3 Reasons to Upgrade Your Outlets:

Whether you have just moved in or have lived in your home for over a decade, changing your outlets should be something on your punch list. There are three important reasons why you should consider the switch:

  1. You can enhance the look of your house. You would be surprised with how just a change in the color of your outlets will change the look of your home. Most of us are familiar with the old crusty outlets when first buying a home. Outlets can lose a lot of their shine as they age and have very apparent stains. The style of receptacle is also very important for what kind of look you are going for. Standard outlets are great and functional, but many homes are shifting to the more modern decora style.  Many manufacturers are now offering designer colors and styles.  Switches and outlets are one more way to add detail and personalize your home.  Don’t forget to replace the plates as well!
  2. Next, replacing your outlets can substantially increase the value of your home with very little cost. Fancy new kitchens and bathrooms are nice, but are also large expenditures. Replacing your old outlets is just like a fresh coat of paint. Keep this in mind if you do intend on selling sometime in the future.  If you want to go the extra mile, try USB or programmable outlets! Another advantage to the change is to make sure outlets are wired correctly and that there are no loose connections before selling/buying a home. Be sure to have a professional do this for you.
  3. Believe it or not, receptacles have a limited lifespan. Many troubleshooting issues can come down to a rundown outlet(s). Have you ever tried to plug something in and it keeps falling out of the receptacle? Not only is this an inconvenience, it is a common sign that your outlet needs to be replaced. Connections inevitably become loose and outlets can burn up. Appliances, televisions, computers, etc can stop working properly and become damaged. Even worse, if neglected for long enough it can become a fire hazard.

They may look small, but outlets have a huge impact on our lives!
